E3D High Flow ObXidian® HotEnd for Bambu Lab A1 / A1 Mini / A2L
The E3D High Flow ObXidian® HotEnd is an officially approved collaboration between E3D and Bambu Lab — making E3D the only approved manufacturer of aftermarket hotends for the A1 series. Designed as a direct drop-in replacement for the standard Bambu hotend, it requires no tools and no hardware modifications. Simply unclip the existing hotend, slot in the new one, and select “Hardened Steel” as the nozzle type in your printer settings.
Up to 70% More Flow
An internal nozzle modification increases the volumetric flow rate by up to 70% compared to the standard Bambu hotend. This means more reliable and consistent extrusion at the same speeds — or the ability to push volumetric flow limits higher in your slicer to fully utilise the A1’s motion system. On the A1 and A1 Mini, 45 mm³/s is the maximum volumetric flow rate possible for a 0.4 mm nozzle under E3D’s test conditions (based on a maximum motion speed of 500 mm/s, track width of 0.5 mm, and layer height of 0.2 mm).
ObXidian® Nozzle with E3DLC™ Coating
The ObXidian® nozzle is several orders of magnitude harder than standard steel nozzles and significantly outperforms other hardened nozzles on the market. The proprietary E3DLC™ (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating provides an ultra-hard, non-stick surface that prevents plastic buildup, drastically reduces the risk of print crashes, and minimises cosmetic defects. High-speed printing retains interlayer adhesion strength and surface quality — delivering strong, visually consistent parts for functional applications.
Officially Approved by Bambu Lab
This hotend is the result of an official collaboration between E3D and Bambu Lab. Use of this product does not void the Bambu Lab warranty. E3D pays a small royalty to Bambu Lab for every sale, of which Bambu Lab donates 50% to the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation — a charity supporting young neurodiverse people with a talent for engineering.
Typical Applications
- Carbon fibre and glass fibre composite filaments
- Abrasive engineering filaments (PA-CF, PET-CF, ASA-CF, etc.)
- High-speed printing with standard materials (PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA)
- Functional parts requiring high strength and surface quality
Important Notes
- ObXidian® nozzles offer exceptional wear resistance but are not everlasting — highly aggressive fillers (e.g. Polymaker Fiberon PA612-CF, PA6-CF, PA6-GF, PA12-CF) may cause significant wear over time
- Some filled materials contain particles close to or larger than 0.4 mm — check your filament manufacturer’s recommended minimum nozzle diameter before use
- Not compatible with Bambu Lab H2 series printers
- After installation, select “Hardened Steel” as your nozzle type in printer settings (Settings > Maintenance > Nozzle)
In the Box
- 1x Assembled High Flow ObXidian® HotEnd for Bambu Lab (0.40 mm or 0.60 mm)
Compatibility
- Bambu Lab A1
- Bambu Lab A1 Mini
- Bambu Lab A2L
Not compatible with X1, X1C, X1E, P1P, P1S, H2D, H2C, H2S, or other Bambu Lab models.
